About
January 6, 2007
A liberal ironist who thinks that cruelty is the worst thing we do. In my liberal utopia, the humiliation of human beings by other human beings would be ceased not by decree but by imagination, the ability to see strange people as fellow sufferers.
Although there is nothing called “the aim of writing,” my aim here is to understand and explain how things in the Middle East and world, in the broadest possible sense of the term, hang together— in particular, how the political and cultural processes and global integration are remaking the Middle East, and what should be seen as a viable political scenarios for the possibility of a liberal Middle East.
That said, the main concern of The Middle East Interest is to “take care of freedom,” as Richard Rorty puts, “truth will take care of itself.”

Hello, I see that you started blogging at nearly the same time I did (http://beer7.wordpress.com/). What is your angle on the Middle East? Where do you come from? Keep up the good work!

This philosophy we share and I humbly thank you for expressing it so well.

Perhaps you should consider the fact that most Iraqis feel humiliated by the U. S. presence there.
